Jun 13, Posts: 2, Re: Upper control Arm Bushing Replacement. If the axle is in the vehicle, I use threaded rod and some parts of the Advance ball joint tool and their part of the control arm bushing tool. It helps with the limited room because you have the oil pan and springs in your way. It may be easier if you jack up the frame and let the angle. Sep 21, Re: Tips for painless control arm bushing replacement? Yeah the arms were pretty cheap (Crown Manufacturing) and to replace the upper bushings in the axle the ball joint press works great.

Nov 25, Re: Removing control arm bushings (axle side) The press will definately help. You may need the master adapter set that harbor freight has if the adapters in your set don't work with the bushing size. I'm sure you had the axle at its lowest point so tool clearance shouldn't be an issue but please do keep this in mind. OEM ZJ bushings have 10mm bolt sleeve (rolled steel) OEM WJ bushings have 10mm TUBING sleeves.

For the install, go ahead and rent a ball joint press if u don't have one (or a good size c clamp) It wasrefundable at my local AutoZone.
